Short tools, solid fixturing and a stable setup matter more in titanium than in any other common alloy. Chatter in titanium is not a finish problem, it is a tool-life and part-scrap problem.
Titanium conducts heat poorly, so it stays in the chip and the edge. Sharp, positive-rake carbide, generous coolant and constant chip load keep the edge alive and the part dimensionally stable.
Grade 5 for strength, Grade 23 ELI when fracture toughness and medical biocompatibility govern, Grade 2 when corrosion resistance and formability matter more than strength. Our titanium grades guide compares them with the numbers.

Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5), Ti-6Al-4V ELI (Grade 23), and commercially pure Grade 2 are the grades we run most, in bar, plate and sheet to the AMS specifications your drawing calls out. Other grades can be quoted on request.
It is demanding rather than hard. Titanium's low thermal conductivity keeps heat in the cutting zone, it work-hardens if the tool rubs, and it springs back under load. Machined with rigid setups, sharp carbide, adequate coolant and steady feed it cuts predictably; machined like aluminum it destroys tools and scraps parts.
Material runs several times the price of aluminum per pound and the alloy is roughly twice as dense per part volume as it is expensive to cut, with slower speeds and more tool wear. Expect a multiple of the aluminum price that depends heavily on how much material is removed; a near-net design keeps it down.
